November 2007

Tomorrow I’ll start posting a panel-a-day comic on the blog called “Mushroom Power” assembled from a bunch of sketchbook drawings.

My homepage, Planet of the Abes, is back up and running after some technical problems. It’s just a bunch of links to other sites I use. Here, Del.icio.us, Facebook (just replaced Myspace!). And don’t forget you can still buy huggably a-dorable Miniest Mini-comics at Etsy.

Also, I got my camera and Flickr stream set up so when I take pictures, they go straight to the site. cool, huh? So check that out to see the latest pictures of my cat and whatever I might be eating that day.

Midomi.com is a cool site for when you get a song stuck in your head and you don’t have any idea who it’s by. You sing or hum into your mic and it tries to match it. Then if you let it, it will save that recording for when other users are trying to find it.

We put it to the test with the following songs

1. The Meow Mix song. One of Stephanie’s favorites. No success.

2. The Ma na Ma na song from the Muppets. I thought I’d start with something that I could handle in the vocal department. Success! It was number 2 after a chinese love ballad.

3. “I want it that way” by the Backstreet Boys. Again, number 2. After someone singing a Justin Timberlake song in French.

I went pretty obscure this year, as Meatwad’s favorite toy, Jiggle Billy. I highly recommend any costume that includes alocohol as an accessory.

Stephanie went as Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka. She made her dress from scratch, and made the Golden Ticket out of a clutch purse.

I just wrote a review for the new must-have Perry Bible Fellowship collection “The Trial of Colonel Sweeto and Other Stories” by Nicholas Gurewitch. Its one of my favorite currently running comic strips and I said its a must-have already so just go ahead and buy it.

Or read them all here.
